If you’re more of a city type than a country bumpkin you’ll fall head over heels for the views offered at The InterContinental HongKong Hotel. A room overlooking Victoria Harbour is just the ticket for those wanting to soak up the world’s most dazzling light-and-sound show, with a 13-minute extravaganza of neon-lit skyscrapers and laser beams illuminating the sky each and every night.

Vantage point: We recommend the Presidential Suite for optimum enjoyment of this spectacle, which comes with its own 230-square-meter terrace and cityscape-facing infinity pool. This is what we call tripping the light fantastic.
